InfoQ.com posts this on IBM’s response to Sun GPL’ing Java last week. Essentially, IBM says what Sun did is good, but why not put under Apache license or just let Apache Harmony take its course…
Behind all of yesterday’s news around Java being GPL’d, code drop is now available for the evolving Java SE 7 platform as well. Maybe, Sun should merge Java SE 6 and 7, although 6 should be RTM any day now.
InfoQ.com and many other sites are reporting that Java SE and Java ME platforms has been GPL’d. But who really cares?
